Bruce's Aircraft Covers - Morgan Hill, Calif., November 2, 2017 – Brewer Custom Covers today announced its new and improved insulated covers for aircraft engines. Bruce's insulated covers are constructed using 3M Thinsulate for superior heat retention and WaterMax performance fabric for maximum durability. Bruce engine covers come with many customization features specific to each aircraft application. Bruce has been manufacturing custom aircraft cover systems for over 37 years, improving and improving their products along the way.
Bruce's insulated airplane covers are manufactured using 3M Thinsulate, a widely recognized winter insulating material. Made from synthetic fibers, Thinsulate is a thin, lightweight filling material that retains internal heat. Thinsulate bristles give airplane blankets their unique insulating properties and work even in humid conditions to protect against potentially damaging moisture.

Brush covers are lightweight, portable and easy to handle Precisely matched to each customer's application, the insulated engine/hood covers can be clamped around or behind corners and cover the entire engine hood area, including the air intake and exhaust pipes. To ensure accessibility, the covers include custom flaps for oil filler doors, cable exits, etc. to simplify access to internal components. Customization can be done in several ways including adapting the preheating system
Bruce's insulated blanket is an excellent solution for winter weather work An example is Sikorsky Helicopters where their coverage efficiency was found to be higher than expected when testing a glow system. “The idea was to expose the QCA (quick change assembly) with a lid for a full 24-hour period In other words, we wanted to drop the temperature down to -40°F and soak in the cold for a full 24 hours before starting the warm-up test. However, the coverage was so good that not all components of the QCA could reach -40°F on day four.In the end it was decided that not all components should reach this temperature and in the middle of the fourth day we started the warm-up procedure. Within an hour, all components exceeded the required -25°F, which would allow flight, said a Sikorsky ground support equipment engineer. He continued: “The cover was very effective and easy to install, even for one person Access panels are excellent for hot duct connections The cover turned out to be a really great asset, and Bruce was a pleasure to work with
Bruce's insulated engine covers are designed to cover an aircraft cowl, sealing it against heat loss and benefiting aircraft operators in three ways. After an airplane takes off, a warm engine can maintain its warm state for longer and allows for better restarts in colder environments with insulated covers. Second, the Bruiser insulated blanket greatly increases the performance and functionality of the engine glow system. Third, an insulated blanket can help protect an engine during extended storage. Protecting an aircraft engine from cold start wear with a custom cover from Bruce will ensure that engine components reach their maximum potential.

Bruce plays an important role in the business and leads our talented design team He travels to different airports to find new and classic airplane models He spends most of his time designing in 3D, but also contributes to optimizing databases and streamlining production processes.
First, where the cover touches the glass should be a sleek cover lined with 100% microfiber lining. Second, a cover should be made of a breathable material so that it doesn't trap moisture and condensation under the cover, which can oxidize the paint and/or metal over time and give your glass a smoky or cloudy appearance. Third, a cover should be made from a material that reflects the sun's harmful UV rays to protect your paint, fabric, and composites. This will keep your cockpit/cabin interior cool; Also protects your avionics and floor Fourth, a cover should be fitted and designed to fit a specific aircraft fuselage so that it does not rub against the glass and/or paint. Finally, you should get a cover from Bruce because we have over 35 years of experience making the world's best custom protective covers for airplanes, gliders, jets and helicopters.
At Bruce's Custom Covers, we perform in-house weather testing on all the fabrics we use We have an industry standard accelerated weathering testing machine called the Q-Panel The machine can simulate UV sun exposure and density We do tensile testing and abrasion testing with our fabrics We test our materials to calculate their insulating properties and r-value We also conduct tests and designs to test the waterproof properties of our materials

We maintain high standards for our suppliers and require that they always provide us with Material Specific Data Sheets (MSDS) that demonstrate independent test results and material performance. Over the years we have found that acrylic solution-dyed canvas materials such as Sunbrella, primarily used for boat covers in the marine industry, are the most suitable for most climates, such as aircraft protection for boat covers. Our standard canopy covers are made with our own acrylic laminate fabric, designed and manufactured exclusively for our covers. A solution-dyed polyester fabric like WeatherMax® also works extremely well in very specific climates and conditions.
Most of the fabrics we use are backed by a 5-year manufacturer's warranty, covers may become unusable due to discoloration or strength loss due to normal use and exposure conditions, including sunlight and mold. Our standard blankets are designed to be used year-round, 100% of the time How long your cover will last will depend on where you live and how well you care for it (click here or see the FAQs below for care instructions). Tropical, humid climates like Florida and Brazil tend to be tough climates for any type of material. Alaska and Canada experience high winds, heat and freeze, snow and ice, which is why we choose the best blend of acrylic and polyester fabrics in the industry.
The photo below shows Sunbrella in action on a Cessna 195 at Oshkosh EAA AirVenture, 2009, after a typical Midwest rain storm:
You don't want a cover made of a waterproof material like a plastic tarp Waterproof materials do not breathe and trap moisture and condensation on the surface of the coating which can damage glass, fabric (such as Seconite), paint and/or composites.

Our coatings are treated to reflect the sun's harmful UV rays and are highly water resistant The fabric is water repellent, yet breathable enough to stop any leaks at the floor and door seals. This means condensation can breathe through the cover or drain off the surface of the aircraft After heavy rain, you may feel a slight dampness on the underside of the cover This moisture will not be trapped under the cover, but it will breathe and dry quickly
In this photo taken at the Oshkosh EAA AirVenture in 2009, notice how water collects on the material surface of this Cessna 195 canopy cover:
We will not sell you a standard online floor covering The price of our wet covers, listed on our website, includes a custom fit cover that fits all antennas, aerials and protrusions, 100% lined with a soft, smooth microfiber liner that won't scratch your glass or your paint. .
In some areas, such as wing, tail and empennage surfaces, it is not necessary to double the cover. Our covers are very form-fitting and will not rub these surfaces These are large covers and we save almost half the bulk and weight by not doubling these covers Additionally, these covers do not touch plexiglass surfaces, which require a microfiber liner.

We also offer a range of lightweight travel covers made from lightweight polyester fabric. These covers are simply lined on the windshield The fabric we use for these covers is very soft and does not require full lining of the cover It is compact and weight saving for easy storage during travel We can fully align these covers for an additional charge Just give it to us
