Fort Hood Veterinary Center - A continuing education event at the Texas A&M College of Veterinary Medicine & Biomedical Sciences (CVMBS) gave 34 United States Army Veterinary Corps (VC) members from across the country the opportunity to learn about equine medicine from CVMBS experts.
The event includes a day of online webinars and a day of hands-on learning at CVMBS, including comprehensive exams, radiography, nerve blocks, dentistry, and colic exams.

"These are common skills that they see in general practice or in the field, and this was basically a refresher and an update on the technology," said Dr. Amanda Trimble, a CVMBS clinical assistant professor of internal medicine at Massachusetts Institute of Technology. "A lot of them, at least the vets, hadn't done some of these similar procedures since they graduated, which for some was 14 or 15 years ago. And for some of the technicians, those skills were new.

Trumbull hopes to expand CVMBS' partnership with Fort Hood in the future to provide more opportunities for current VC members and vet students interested in joining after graduation.
"Because Fort Hood is right in our backyard and A&M has such a strong military history, this collaboration can benefit not only the Vet Corps and our Soldiers, but also us and our students," Trumbull said. . "We can potentially get an opportunity to go out there and help them with their horses and provide educational opportunities for everyone."

They know their stuff. Enough said. Well, I think more needs to be said. This center was very helpful in collecting documents for my dog to travel with me to Germany. For under $30 they saved me 3 multiple facility visits, including the drive to Austin, plus an unexpected $$$, some pet couriers will charge +$500 just for the medical screening. I come here at least once a month for my dog's medication and I trust him very rarely. And even though they are sometimes short on doctor staff, they always treat us like family.

Came here a few times just to get ready to go to Hawaii. The staff is disorganized and didn't even know who belongs to which room. My appointment was at 1 and I wasn't called back until a few minutes after 1. It took them half an hour to draw blood and by now I was sitting in the waiting room for over half an hour waiting for the rabies certificate. I am alone in the waiting room and there are 4 people behind the desk who do nothing but talk. I guarantee it won't take that long to print a few pieces of paper, especially if I'm the only one here. What used to take an hour at most at another vet, now took 3 hours at this one. If you can save this place at all costs. Read less

The original vet took 20 minutes to explain what was wrong with my cats and used vet school level terminology that both my husband and I did not understand and did not care for. We just want to know what medications cats need and how and when to give them. We are bombarded with so much useless medical jargon and foreign words that I still don't know how to effectively feed my cats.
