Palmetto State Ak - Is the PSA AK-103 a good starter AK? - I've said before that I make a point to avoid the Palmetto State Armory, but I suspect I'll do without getting my hands on a PSA AK-103.
It's being promoted by many gun lobbyists as the new hotness, but I still don't recommend it.

I won't go into the details of all the differences between the AK variants because the review would be thousands of words. But I will say that the AK-103 is not a true 103, but that was something I had to point out in the first place. I'm not an AK guy so I'm happy with the design unless it's a clone. Other than that, all your expected AK accessories are there and most of them are made of cold steel. That means you can put some work in with the guns.
I want to mention that PSA 103 is unusually selective when it comes to magazines. There have been several different reports that the magazines are too sticky when seated and I can't seat the P-mags. It sounds like a strange negligence to me.
Don't expect accuracy from this. It's mil-spec which is just code for "minimum performance." You can get 1-2 MOA at most, but these guns have not been the tac drivers on the range.
Loyalty to food cycles is tight. We can mostly attribute this to the overall design of the AK platform. I got my 103 quite luckily, I was able to feed everything perfectly.

One thing I am concerned about is longevity. There is no way I would trust this gun for long, especially if you make the ill-advised decision to use it as a SHTF gun. Normally, I stick to guns made in the United States, but this time Eastern Europe is doing better. It is much better.
The PSA AK-103 is more suitable as an entry level rifle. It's only $900 so not a huge loss in the context of AK-47s. No, you won't find other AKs for the same price, but we will design AKs that will last a long, long time.
PSA AK-103 is not bad, but there is no chance to recommend it to anyone. Palmetto State Armory has poor quality control so there is no guarantee you will get a complete gun like I did. Don't fall for the hype about activists getting handguns for consideration. If you want an AK, buy an import. If you can't find an import, drop the extra cash on a quality home build. And stay far, far away from PSA.

The AK-47 GF3 has a number of solid features and the stock rifle comes in a variety of configurations. A PSA will certainly provide an overview that will get you closer to what you want.
If you want the texture of wood that they have long covered if it is a polymer type only shot they have you covered.

In my case, I went with the bakelite model and I have to say I really like it.
The thread on the PSA AK-47 GF3 is M14 x 1LH and I lovingly put the Wolverine PBS-1 on my GF3 and I love it.
The lower break gives you a classic look, but there is no big bottle or muzzle rise to reduce it.

No, not the Russian spy agency, this is a front view. The front sight block on the GF3 is not connected to the gas block.
The FSB sits near the end of the pipe next to the pipe and the gas block sits a few inches behind the FSB.
The front sight on the GF3 does very well with metal objects, so don't expect much of the past to be metal.
I am working on getting an optic mount and optic for this rifle but the mount has not arrived yet. I will update you when it arrives.

If you are new to AK-47s and don't know what it takes to assemble them, you don't know what a front trunnion is, I know I never did.
When it comes to axles, trunnions are metal pieces that other parts of the gun attach to or lock or resist.
On the AK platform, the front trunnion is a metal block that is mounted on the receiver and has the barrel pressed into it.

The front trunnion on the PSA AK is hammered and so far it has served the rifle excellently.
The front trunnion may be a piece of the gun that you will never mess with but I wanted to fix it because the hammer forged trunnion is very strong.
The receiver on this rifle is a little different than most AK's, they have stamped receivers which means sheet metal is stamped to make the AK's lower receiver.
Most high-end AK-47s have hammer-out or billet receivers. The PSA AK GF3 remains true to the imported AK and has a stamped metal receiver.

So far the host has been great and the overall quality has been great. I really have nothing bad to say when it comes to the PSA boss.
The GF3 model has a 16″ gas nitrided 4150 steel barrel. The coating on the barrel holds up well. I did not hold this gun lightly and knew it would see high numbers in the months and years to come.
One thing I really like about the PSA GF3 rifles is that they all come with my favorite AK style safety.
Safety features standard grip levers at the top of the selector and one at the bottom. This makes it very easy to use your index finger to push or pull the gun to safety or fire.

The PSA AK trigger is what you would expect from a stock AK trigger. It's not bad but it's not the same as good 21st century firing behind an AR-15 trigger.
Personally, this trigger is great and the only thing I can think of to replace it with is the ALG AK trigger, which is amazing.
The pistol grip on my GF3 is nothing crazy or special. Besides the fact that it is an imitation of Bakelite.
Real bakelite is rare and expensive and is what AK used before polymer took over the gun market.
Psa Ak E 47/ Palmetto State Ak E 47
The magazine release sits right in front of the trigger frame and can be easily pressed to drop the magazine free and replace it.
The size of the release is largely a matter of personal preference and can be changed if you want something different.
Magazines are a must and unfortunately you only get one with this gun, but luckily you can find AK magazines all over the internet.
The magazine looks solid but I will definitely be buying a few more AK steel mags to add to my collection as soon as I can figure out which steel mags work best
