The Royal Brunei Armed Forces (Malay: Tentera Darat Diraja Brunei, abbreviated TDDB) is the land arm of the Armed Forces of the Kingdom of Brunei. The RBLF is responsible for providing Brunei's territorial defense against external attacks.
The Royal Brunei Land Force was formed in May 1961 with the formation of the Brunei-Malay Regiment, when the first recruits of 60 soldiers began training. The official foundation of the regiment took place in June 1962, when the first three intakes were formed at the regimental headquarters and three infantry companies.

In 1965, the regiment became the Royal Brunei Malayan Regiment and received the royal prefix. Initially stationed at Port Dickson in Malaysia, the regiment soon moved to purpose-built barracks in Brunei. In 1984, Brunei gained full independence from Great Britain. At that time, the Royal Brunei Malay Regiment became part of the Armed Forces of the Kingdom of Brunei and was renamed the Royal Brunei Armed Forces. In 1990, a support battalion was established consisting of an armored reconnaissance squadron, an air defense battery and a combat engineer squadron along with administrative and maintenance support.
